Jest absolwentem dwóch krakowskich uczelni wyższych. W 2013 roku ukończył studia licencjackie na kierunku Ratownictwo Medyczne CM Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego, w 2018 ukończył studia magisterskie na Wydziale Malarstwa Akademii Sztuk Pięknych. Studiował również na Royal Academy of Fine Arts w Antwerpii (2017) w ramach programu wymiany studenckiej Erasmus. W 2023 roku ukończył studia na Środowiskowych Studiów Doktoranckich na swojej macierzystej uczelni. “Moje obrazy i obiekty to nośniki wielu historii, zapomnianych symboli i zapętlających się znaczeń. W tym sensie prace które tworzę są opowieścią o początkach: sztuki, życia i świata, ale też o ich nieuniknionym końcu i wiecznym powrocie. W serii obrazów nawiązuje zarówno do badań naukowych związanych z chemią i biologią, jak i pradawnych wierzeń, baśni i legend odnosząc je do współczesności, badając samą strukturę mitu i zacierając granicę między tym co racjonalne, a intuicyjne. Innymi słowy obraz jest dla mnie transgresyjnym punktem - niejednoznaczną historią, której znaczenia się nie kończą i nie zamykają, ale działając na zasadzie kłącza, oddziałują na wyobraźnię i łączą się z innymi opowieściami - tymi, które znamy i tymi, które dopiero powstaną. Prace które prezentuję stworzyłem z myślą o takim rodzaju doświadczenia, które można odbierać nie tylko za pomocą wzroku, ale także poprzez dotyk czy smak. Obrazy oddziałując na zmysły wykraczają poza klasyczne medium malarstwa. Wykorzystuje w nich nietypowe materiały takie jak ziemia, cukier czy żywica nadając poszczególnym elementom wartość symboliczną. Cukier stanowi dla mnie metaforę związaną z czymś cennym i dobrym – „słodkością”, ale też kojarzy się z kruchą substancją, która w każdym momencie może się bezpowrotnie rozpłynąć. Ziemia ma wymiar pierwotny związany z cyklem życia i śmierci, a żywica przypomina soki i fluidy wyciśnięte z ciała roślin i zwierząt - jej przezroczysty połysk i nieregularny kształt może kojarzyć się z abiektalnym wymiarem biologicznych procesów. Tym samym obiekty i obrazy mają charakter multisensoryczny – błyszcząca faktura bąbelków z żywicy aż prosi się, żeby jej dotknąć, a lukrowane cukrem powierzchnie kuszą słodkim smakiem, który oddziałuje na odbiorcę nawet jeśli ten nie liże obrazu, a tylko to sobie wyobraża. To statyczne obrazy i obiekty, ale też performatywne krążenie substancji: jej metamorfoza, transgresja i transmutacja. To przemiana materii, która nie tyle pozostaje w ruchu, co sama w sobie jest właśnie zmianą.” EN Marcin Janusz (b. 1991 in Przeworsk, Poland) is a graduate of two institutions of higher education in Krakow. In 2013, he received his Bachelor of Health Sciences in Medical Rescue from the Jagiellonian University Medical College, followed by a Master of Arts from the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts Faculty of Painting in 2018. Janusz was also an Erasmus exchange student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (2017). In 2023 he obtained PhD at his home academy Doctoral School. My paintings and objects are vehicles of numerous stories, forgotten symbols and entangled meanings. In this sense, is a tale of beginnings: of life, art and the world as well as their inevitable end and eternal return. My series of paintings refers both to scientific research from the fields of chemistry and biology as well as to primeval beliefs, fables and legends, which are situated in contemporary times in an exploration of the very structure of myth, blurring the boundary between the rational and the intuitive. In other words, I understand the painting to be a transgressive point – an equivocal history, meanings of which are never-ending and never close, but rather operate as a rhizome, making an impact on the imagination and connecting to other stories – those we know and those that will only become. My art were created with an intended kind of experience that can be perceived not only by means of sight, but also through touch or taste. Impacting those senses, the paintings transcend the classical medium of painting. Employing unusual materials, such as soil, sugar or resin, I endow particular elements with a symbolic value. I take sugar to be a metaphor of something precious and good, of ‘sweetness’, but it is also associated with a fragile substance that, at any moment, can irretrievably melt away. Soil has a primordial dimension, related to the cycle of life and death, and resin resembles juices and fluids squeezed from bodies of plants and animals – its translucent shine and irregular shape can be referred to the abjectal dimension of biological processes. Thus, my objects and paintings have a multisensory character: a shiny texture of resin bubbles almost demands to be touched, while sugar-glazed surfaces are tempting with their sweet taste, which influences the addressee, even if they do not actually lick a painting, but only imagine it. They are static paintings and objects as well as a performative circulation of substance: its metamorphosis, transgression and transmutation. W średniowieczu brak głowy nie był problemem, wierzono że za sprawą cudu może zrosnąć się z ciałem. Obraz Kukania inspirowany był ludową opowieścią o Kukani. To mityczna kraina w której nikt nie był głodny, każdy był szczęśliwy, nie istniało prawo i władza. W średniowieczu ludzie wierzyli w jej istnienie, dlatego opuszczali domy i wyruszali w podróż z nadzieją na odnalezienie lepszego świata. To kolejna historia, która generowała momenty ulgi. EN Motifs in the form of people without heads refer to drolleries. In the Middle Ages the lack of a head was not a problem, it was believed that through a miracle it could fuse with the body. The painting&nbsp;Cuccagna was inspired by the folk tale of Cuccagna (the land of Cockaigne). It's a mythical land where no one was hungry, everyone was happy, law and authority didn't exist. In the Middle Ages, people believed in its existence, so they left their homes and set out on a journey hoping to find a better world.
